Furniture hardware continues to impress the judges at the International Red Dot Design Awards. Hinges, slides, door hardware and drawer systems feature almost every year. In 2016 Hettich AvanTech features strongly.

AvanTech continues the most exacting design ambitions on the inside of furniture with the 2016 award-winning AvanTech drawer. AvanTech features sleek lines, sharply rounded edges and no cover caps whatsoever on the high quality 13 mm aluminium drawer side profiles. With the Actro 5D drawer runner, the premium segment AvanTech is visually appealing and smooth to touch.

The 41 members of the Red Dot Award jury rated a record number of 5,214 products from 57 nations. The AvanTech drawer system demonstrates superb design quality and is evidence of Hettich’s advanced design skills, putting it among this year’s best in the industry.

Hettich says that if your inner demand is perfection, AvanTech will “Spoil your senses; visually, tactually and acoustically. It features simple elegance thanks to exquisite 13 mm aluminium drawer side profiles; linearity without holes or cover caps; precise 5D panel adjustment enabling narrow reveals and a perfect front panel alignment and unsurpassed running action and impressive stability.” It can be loaded with up to 80 kg for generous furniture design

Also awarded was the new Sensys 8646i thin door hinge with extremely shallow cup giving furniture makers maximum design flexibility for further options in making a mark of distinction. The hinge permits the use of thin core board panels in a thickness from just 8 mm with a design defining surface application layer, such as glass or concrete. Thin solid front panels made, for example, of solid surface materials are also an option. The look and feel of exclusive materials can now be combined with the purist style of slender lines and narrow reveals.

The coveted Red Dot Award accolade is a seal of outstanding design quality that is respected the world over. The iF Design Award has been an internationally recognised hallmark of design excellence for over 60 years. It ranks among the World’s most prestigious design prizes. The award presentation will take place on 26^th February 2016 at BMW World Munich. The AvanTech drawer and the Sensys hinge will be on display in one of three changing exhibitions staged by the iF Design Exhibition Hamburg.
