Gibbon Architectural are extremely excited to introduce the SynSisal Carpet Collection to the Australian market as a sisal-style flatwoven broadloom carpet which can be used in commercial, hospitality and residential spaces.

SynSisal, a premium sustainable flooring solution, has officially arrived in Australia through its exclusive partnership between Curran Global and Gibbon Architectural. This eco-friendly, durable product is set to add a new dimension to the Australian design landscape with its blend of natural beauty and environmental attributes.

Over many years, Curran US has been offering beautiful flatwoven natural fiber and sisal-like carpets and rugs out of their business in Seattle. This has evolved from a simple catalog to a modern online store with custom design options. A family-run business, Jeff and his wife Barbara expanded their offerings to now proudly introduce SynSisal.

Jeff Curran – founder of Curran US and sisalcarpet.com – created SynSisal out of a common customer need: “I love the look of sisal, but I want something soft, durable, and easy to clean.”  Conscious of sisal’s hardwearing qualities but the challenges this natural fibre can present in terms of maintenance, Jeff Curran decided to develop a sisal-style carpet in a hard-wearing nylon that would be designed to perform in almost any space.

Sustainability was also top of mind, and for that reason SynSisal was created using ECONYL 100% regenerated nylon yarns which are sourced from recycled materials such as old carpets and ocean waste.

The result? A stain-resistant, contract grade solution that maintains the sought after look of sisal – perfect for any space due to its solution dyed yarn. Taking the inspiration of natural sisal’s classic weaves with their woven, textured appearance, SynSisal also has a softer feel and durable weave, giving the carpet a more refined look while still maintaining a robust, natural feel.

Its heavy contract grade flatwoven construction is designed for environments such as hotels, offices, and retail outlets – but also beautiful enough to be used in residential spaces. The aesthetic is typically rustic and earthy, making it a popular choice for spaces with natural and organic interiors.

The SynSisal Collection was designed to have the look, texture, and sustainability of sisal, while its construction in solution dyed regenerated nylon provides excellent resistance to wear and tear and is easier to clean and maintain.

Now the carpet is being marketed globally by Curran Global, and SynSisal was introduced to Gibbon Architectural through their longstanding connection with Curran Global’s EU Sales Director, Mark van Koningsveld.

Mark believed Gibbon Architectural to the be the right fit as their Australian Distributor due to the synergies in how both companies approach the market, but also Gibbon’s long term philosophy of sourcing products with strong environmentally sustainable credentials.

Four weaves – Astoria, Langley, Medina and Winthrop are stocked in Australia in four colour-ways: Bark, Honey, Mink and Mesquite, while all colours and weaves can be ordered from Gibbon Architectural.

SynSisal combines the look of natural sisal with the benefits of synthetic fibres, offering a durable, low-maintenance solution for clients who want the natural, woven aesthetic but with more practical advantages for durability and maintenance.

Gibbon Architectural supplies commercial carpets, carpet tiles and custom rugs nationally to the A&D community which are fit for purpose in commercial, hospitality, retail, multi-residential and residential spaces.
