When Homag developed the new BMG series, the HOMAG CNC experts applied the motto “Keep the good parts and add something new”. The BMG 310 series delivers everything required for a wide range of applications and potential configurations.

Easy access for loading and unloading the machine; space for larger parts to protrude beyond the dimensions of the machine; cleaning and disposal of offcuts not hindered by fences and barriers are just some of the features of the new Homag BMG 310 series CNC processing centres. The machine is enclosed on all sides so it can be easily configured for the installation site without additional safety measures. “All on board” is the perfect way to describe the advantage offered by the new 32-slot tool changer, giving the operator rapid access to the tools and a high level of versatility. The design features a plate that has an outer ring with 24 slots and an inner ring with 8 slots, ensuring optimum use of space. The consoles are supplied with covered cable trails ensuring offcuts are not left hanging and preventing damage to the hoses; and are located entirely within the machine frame so chips and offcuts fall onto the chip belt in the machine bed; perfectly suited for automated production cells.

HOMAG has developed the PC87CNC controller and further optimized it for touch screen operation. The machine bed, the consoles, the clamping equipment and the workpiece including all forms of processing are now displayed as a freely rotating 3D model. Assignments are allocated via drag & drop, and all required clamping equipment is calculated based on space requirements. Clamping equipment can subsequently be moved, removed or new equipment added using the touch screen. The workpiece assignment can be rotated in 90-degree steps to achieve an optimum clamping situation. Thanks to the integrated production list, a complete series of programs can be processed as a list. In automatic mode, the control system automatically assigns a new program from the list as soon as a slot has been processed.

The BMG 110, the little brother, has set a new benchmark for simple machine operation with the scanner function and the convenience package that was launched in spring 2016. In this configuration the main functions are activated using keys located on the enclosure and side stops and the same system has now offered for the BMG 310. In addition, display functions to indicate the machine status are now integrated into the keys. The foot switch that was never in quite the right place has also been replaced by a wide foot-operated switch bar. A second touchscreen so that long machines can be operated from both sides completes the operating environment.
