- What do you see as the current trends/innovations in the decorative finishes industry?
We have seen an influx of natural materials and earth inspired colour tones take precedence. There has been a large emphasis on the tactility of decorative surfaces and finishes to mimic natural textures. There has been a strong movement towards super matt interior surfaces as they provide a sense of calm and softness both visually and to the touch. SURTECO’s Deko+ range has a velvet touch with low light reflectivity making it the go to super matt laminate for calming interior spaces.
- How is technology changing what you do and how will you be adapting to those changes?
Technology is the way forward in regard to designing innovative solutions and products for the decorative finishes industry. SURTECO is committed to design and expertise and works towards it every day to be able to offer the industry the most relevant new designs. Technology is at SURTECO’s core; with a history of producing surfaces and finishes in Germany for over 130 years, and having manufactured premium quality Australian made products out of Arndell Park in Sydney since the 1980’s, we’ve become experts in creative design and technologically advances surfaces. SURTECO develop new ideas and products that move people and make trends come alive. Our wide range of processes and technologies allow SURTECO to combine sophisticated design with cutting-edge technology to create truly unique decors and edgebands.
- What are some of your best-selling products and why?
Digital Edge
SURTECO’s digital edge is definitely a standout best seller. We are the only manufacturer that combines two edge technologies by producing the digital edge also as fusion edge. This thereby brings together the perfect processing and a first-class print image. The digitally printed edge bands can be individualised and personalised for logos, lettering, photos etc. It really is a one of a kind stand out product as it allows customisation to adopt to the respective surface material.
Deko Metals
Made with real metals, these gorgeous colours and tactile finishes leave a lasting impression. Deko Metals have been extremely popular in large commercial projects as the range provides a cost-effective metal surface that is suitable for various applications such as kickboards, ceilings, joinery, wall linings etc. SURTECO’s Deko Metal range also has matching edge bands available for our brushed metal colours which allows for a contrast edge detail if you are looking to give your joinery a pop of colour.
- What does the future hold for the industry post-pandemic?
Post-pandemic we have already seen and will continue to see a large emphasis on sustainability. Sustainability is at the forefront of the industry’s focus and there will be a strong preference to selecting sustainably compliant products that are only environmentally sound products, but also long lasting. SURTECO are GREENGUARD and GREENGUARD GOLD certified for all Australian Made edgebands.
Sustainability as we see it now goes hand in hand with using locally manufactured products. SURTECO have been manufacturing in Arndell Park NSW since the 1980’s and are proud to employ local hardworking people to produce high quality product.
